Daniel Cormier is a national treasure. A truly likable and charismatic champion, Cormier has finally put Jon Jones behind him by winning heavyweight gold. Now, though, he has in front of him a potential trap fight: Derrick “the Black Beast” Lewis, who knows he isn’t supposed to win but also knows he can knock anyone out at any given time.
Lewis started his humorous feud with Cormier over Popeyes chicken, long before this last-minute bout was cobbled together to save UFC 230. Lewis said he was defending Popeyes honor after DC made a funny video dancing with Popeyes chicken, and that has netted him a sponsorship with the restaurant chain, including free meals for life at a local Cypress franchise. Cormier was jealous Lewis beat him to the punch on that deal.
It sucks. It really sucks that he got it done. I don’t know what happened. My managers need to get on their shit.
I wanted money. That might have been the problem. He got free chicken for life- that’s pretty impressive.
He does have a plan for revenge though: Carl’s Junior, who love him.
Since Popeyes wants to stick it to me, I’m going to go and do a signing and give away free burgers at Carl’s Junior, that’s what I’m going to do.
Whoever runs Carl’s Junior’s Twitter feed is on board, changing their Twitter name to include “Daniel Cormier fan account” and officially picking him.
