Conor McGregor gets new deal with UFC, includes Proper No. 12 whiskey on canvas

When Conor McGregor enters the Octagon against Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229, he will earn the highest purse for a single fight in UFC history.

UFC President Dana White confirmed the earlier reports following Thursday’s UFC 229 press conference in New York City.

“Conor knows exactly what he’s worth and what he expects to get,” said White. “At the end of the day, he’s worth it. We were just looking at the streams and this press conference beat the highest rated MayMac the press tour. The kid is brilliant and not only can he talk, he shows up and he fights. He will fight anybody, anywhere, anytime.

“So it was not hard to get a deal done with Conor McGregor because we also know what he’s worth.”

When pressed if his next fight would indeed put McGregor at the top of highest earning fighter’s in promotion history, White kept it blunt.

“Absolutely,” smiled White. “It’s going to be the biggest pay-per-view we’ve ever done. We’re trending at 2.5 million pay-per-views. It’s one of the biggest ever. Not just the UFC, but ever.”

While specifics of the new deal were not made available, part of the agreement includes promoting McGregor new business endeavor, Proper No. 12 Irish Whiskey, as an official sponsor.

”You bet your bollocks it is,” said McGregor when the new sponsorship agreement was brought up during the press conference. “On the canvas. On the canvas. Like [Nurmagomedov’s] blood will be on the canvas.”

McGregor is set to end his two-year hiatus from competition against Nurmagomedov, the reigning lightweight champion, in the main event of UFC 229 inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Oct. 6.
