Anderson Silva: In this moment, Khabib Nurmagomedov is UFC’s best fighter

Daniel Cormier may be the current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) “champ champ,” holding both the Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight titles with intentions on defending them both, but he isn’t the best fighter on the UFC roster.

That title, according to former pound-for-pound great, Anderson Silva, belongs to current UFC Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

“Khabib [Nurmagomedov] is a great fighter. I’m very impressed. Conor [McGregor] is a great fighter. Having a new generation of fighters, especially in the UFC … this is a huge company that’s worked for a long time to get the great fighters in the sport. I think Khabib is the best, here, in this moment,” said Silva in an interview with Inquisitr.

High praise from the man many consider the greatest of all time.

Khabib has been running through the 155-pound weight class, winning 10 straight inside the Octagon. He also boasts 16 straight wins prior to making his Octagon debut without suffering a single defeat.

His push-the-pace style has made him a fan favorite and a nightmare matchup for his opponents. Just ask Edson Barboza.

Khabib will next face former “champ champ,” Conor McGregor, in his first-ever title defense at the upcoming UFC 229 pay-per-view (PPV) event on Oct. 6, 2018, inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. A win for “The Eagle” will help solidify his status as the best in the business, while handing Conor his second loss inside the Octagon.

For McGregor, meanwhile, it’s a chance to reclaim one of his titles after he was stripped of both the 145- and 155-pound straps because of inactivity, and perhaps help him make a case for being the best in the world.

Anyone (dis) agree with “The Spider?”
