Dana White confirms Brock Lesnar won’t be at UFC 230, Jon Jones says he still wants WWE champ

A lot of headlines spilled out of UFC 232’s first official press conference  earlier tonight (Fri., Nov. 2, 2018) in New York City.

Not only did Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson nearly come to blows during their intense staredown , but Brock Lesnar’s name was brought more than once.

Remember, the WWE champion is planning a return to the Octagon early next year and could potentially face off against current UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, who will defend his title opposite knockout artist Derrick Lewis tomorrow night at UFC 230.

When asked if Lesnar would show his face at UFC 230 to pull off yet another surprise encounter with Cormier, UFC president Dana White confirmed that the professional wrestler will not be in attendance.

That’s good news for Lesnar as Cormier was expecting to lay the smack down if the WWE superstar entered the cage at UFC 230.

“People keep asking me that,” said White when questioned if Lesnar would be welcome at UFC 230. “No, he’s not coming here. He’s not coming to the fight.”

It would be hard for Lesnar to get to UFC 230 in time anyways, as the former UFC champion reclaimed WWE gold earlier today at “Crown Jewel” in Saudi Arabia by beating Braun Strowman for the Universal Championship.

Still, Lesnar’s potential appearance at UFC 230 has been highly talked about. Despite fighting inside of the Octagon just once since 2011, Lesnar stills commands incredible attention among combat fans of all shapes and sizes.

While Lesnar is expected to make his UFC return against Cormier next year if “DC” is able to get past “Black Beast” this weekend in New York City, Jones is still eager to land his own superfight with Lesnar.

“I would like to fight Brock Lesnar still,” said Jones. “I think Brock Lesnar is one of the most entertaining guys. People want to see him in the UFC against entertaining guys so I’m definitely looking forward to the opportunity to still compete against Brock Lesnar.”

These superfight matchups shake up all the time so it’s possible that Jones squeezes his way in against Lesnar if Jon can take out Gustafsson at UFC 232 and Cormier unexpectedly falls to Lewis.

But if Cormier is victorious at UFC 230 he’ll get the first crack at Lesnar. After that, Jones can take his shot.
