Survivor Series 2018: Last minute rumors

We are under a day away from Survivor Series, which is turning out to be one of the most eagerly awaited PPVs in a while. The penultimate PPV of the year will see Team RAW and Team SmackDown collide in several mouth-watering matches, including WWE Champion Daniel Bryan facing off against the Universal Champion Brock Lesnar, while Ronda Rousey faces her biggest test yet in WWE when she takes on Charlotte Flair.

Elsewhere, we will see the traditional RAW vs SmackDown 5-on-5 elimination match, which may throw up some surprises, and twists and turns, while we will see a technical and hard-hitting battle between Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins, and United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura.

Here, we look at last minute rumors and betting odds for this Sunday’s Survivor Series PPV:

#1 Team RAW to dominate as per betting odds

One of the most important matches at this year’s Survivor Series will be the men’s 5-on-5 elimination match between Team RAW and Team SmackDown. Team RAW, which consists of (Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, Braun Strowman, Finn Bálor, and Bobby Lashley, will take on The Miz, Shane McMahon, Rey Mysterio, Samoa Joe, and Jeff Hardy of the blue brand.

Last year’s 5-on-5 elimination match was won by Team RAW, and it seems like the red brand is going to win it again this year, according to various betting odds.

5Dimes are tipping Team RAW to win this year as well, with the odds in favour of the red brand (-170 to SmackDown’s +130). There is some dissension between the members of Team RAW as Ziggler and McIntyre have recently feuded with Strowman, and Baron Corbin has also been a thorn in Strowman’s side, while Balor and Lashley faced off against each other only last week.

We could maybe see one of the red brand’s members turn on their own, which could maybe be how the match and the show ends (if the match is set to be the last one of the night).

#2 The Undertaker to return?

The Undertaker last appeared on WWE television at Crown Jewel, where he and Kane lost against the team of Triple H and Shawn Michaels.

Recent reports have indicated that The Undertake will have one last match in the WWE, possibly at WrestleMania. The rumor mill has hinted at Undertaker retiring at WM35 and will also be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

WhatCulture are reporting that the Undertaker may make an appearance at Survivor Series as he is just a 30-minute drive away from the venue, Staples Centre in Los Angeles, California. ‘Taker will be signing autographs at the Frank & Son Collectible Show on Sunday, and hence the rumor suggests that he may make a return, possibly to set-up the match for WrestleMania.

Undertaker’s last appearance at Survivor Series was at the 2015 edition, where he teamed up with Kane to take on Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper.

#3 Mystery fifth SmackDown women’s team member?

The women of RAW and SmackDown will also face off in a 5-on-5 Survivor Series elimination match, which will see Mickie James, Nia Jax, Tamina, Natalya, and Ruby Riott of RAW, take on Carmella, Naomi, Sonya Deville, Asuka, and one mystery Superstar.

Reports have indicated that the final Superstar for Team SmackDown could either be Mandy Rose or Nikki Cross, the latter who debuted on the main roster two weeks ago on SmackDown, when she faced SmackDown women’s champion Becky Lynch.

One of the two are the most likely Superstars to be the fifth member, but some reports are suggesting that WWE could throw a curveball and add NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler to the team. Baszler successfully defended her title at NXT TakeOver: WarGames on Saturday, winning a two-out-of-three falls match against Kairi Sane.

#4 Nia Jax and Tamina to cost Ronda Rousey the match?

Many fans were waiting in great anticipation for the match between Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch at Survivor Series, but Lynch’s injury means that the match will have to be set aside for another PPV down the road.

It was announced on SmackDown that Rousey will face off against Charlotte Flair, another formidable opponent.

The rumors suggest that there will be an interference, which could help either of the women win the match. The betting odds are tilting the match in Rousey’s favor, but reports indicate that Nia Jax – who is set to be Rousey’s next opponent for the RAW women’s title – could interfere and cause Rousey the match.

Jax, who was responsible for Lynch’s injury, after landing a blow to the SmackDown women’s champion’s face this past week, has aligned with Tamina. Other reports have said that Lynch could come to the aid of Charlotte to help her defeat Rousey.

#5 News on Brock Lesnar vs Daniel Bryan match

Following Daniel Bryan’s victory over AJ Styles on SmackDown, where Bryan turned heel and won the WWE Championship, he replaced Styles as the opponent of Lesnar at Survivor Series.

Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer has said that backstage officials have told him that the match between Lesnar and Bryan will not have any impact on current storylines for both Superstars, indicating that Bryan may not be a heel in that match

The betting odds are firmly in favour of The Beast (-300 to Bryan’s +220) which does not come as much of surprise considering how the match-up between Lesnar and Bryan is skewed in the favour of the Universal Champion.

AJ Styles does not have a match for Survivor Series, but we could perhaps see an interference from him during the match, which could cost Bryan the match.
