UFC Fight Night 136 odds: Latest Vegas lines and betting guide for ‘Hunt vs Oleinik’

Two Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) elder statesmen helm its first trip to Moscow, Russia, this Saturday (Sept. 15, 2018) when knockout machine Mark Hunt and submission magician Aleksei Oleinik duke it out in UFC Fight Night 136’s hard-hitting main event, which will stream live and free with your Fight Pass subscription.

The co-feature sees Nikita Krylov return to the Octagon against Jan Blachowicz, while Andrei Arlovski looks to get back on track at Shamil Abdurakhimov’s expense and undefeated M-1 Welterweight Champion Alexey Kunchenko debuts opposite Thiago Alves.

Shall we have a look at UFC Fight Night 136’s betting odds? They’re something else!

What Went Wrong at UFC 228?

Charles Byrd showed that he was indeed sharper than Darren Stewart, but I underestimated “The Dentist’s” ability to hurt him. That’s always the hazard involved in betting against someone with legitimate knockout power … even when he seems to be outclassed everywhere else. At least Aljamain Sterling came up big (watch him).

UFC Fight Night 136 Odds For The Undercard:

Khalid Murtazaliev (-155) vs. CB Dollaway (+135)
Petr Yan (-800) vs. Jin Soo Son (+550)
Rustam Khabiov (-700) vs. Kajan Johnson (+500)
Mairbek Taisumov (-450) vs. Des Green (+360)
Magomed Ankalaev (-440) vs. Marcin Prachnio (+350)
Jordan Johnson (-260) vs. Adam Yandiev (+220)
Ramazan Emeev (-500) vs. Stefan Sekulic (+400)
Merab Dvalishvili (-525) vs. Terrion Ware (+415)

Thoughts: Yeah, this is not the most competitive matchmaking I’ve ever seen. I honestly can’t recall seeing a collection of “Prelims” undercard bouts this numerically one-sided.

C.B. Dollaway is a somewhat live dog, but I don’t have enough confidence in his chin against a puncher of Murtazaliev’s caliber. He’s still the cleaner boxer and wrestler, though, so if you’re feeling lucky, take a look. Of the favorites, I think you can squeeze a bit of value out of this lineup by parlaying Jordan Johnson with whomever you have the most faith in. His opponent, Adam Yandiev, has been out of action since 2015 and looked decidedly mediocre in his previous efforts.

Ramazan Emeev and Magomed Ankalaev look like fairly safe investments to bolster that line, too, being stronger wrestlers and crisper strikers than their opponents.

UFC Fight Night 136 Odds For The Main Card:

Mark Hunt (-185) vs. Aleksei Oleinik (+155)
Nikita Krylov (-120) vs. Jan Blachowicz (EVEN)
Shamil Abdurakhimov (-130) vs. Andrei Arlovski (+110)
Alexey Kunchenko (-475) vs. Thiago Alves (+380)

Thoughts: The main card is a little light on bargains, too. All four of these fights feature guys who can reliably end the fight in an instant and the ones who can’t, Jan Blachowicz and Shamil Abdurakhimov, are inconsistent to the point where betting on (or against) them is a bad idea.

UFC Fight Night 136 Best Bets:

  • Parlay — Jordan Johnson, Ramazan Emeev and Magomed Ankalaev: $50 to make $52

UFC Fight Night 136 features a few must-see mixed martial arts (MMA) prospects, some entertainingly violent match ups, and Mark Hunt, which sounds like a sufficiently engrossing line up for a free card. See you Saturday, Maniacs!
