Just kidding! Jedrzejczyk vs Shevchenko flyweight title fight back on for UFC 231 in Toronto

Let’s try this again.

After Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president Dana White announced that Daniel Cormier would defend his Heavyweight title against Derrick Lewis at the upcoming UFC 230 pay-per-view (PPV) event on Nov. 3, 2018 in New York, N.Y., the outspoken head honcho made another move.

Per ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, Valentina Shevchenko and Joanna Jedrzejczyk have once again been booked to square off for the vacant UFC women’s Flyweight title at UFC 231 on December 8, 2018 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

After UFC was left scrambling to score a headlining title fight for UFC 230, White and Co. inexplicably yanked Shevchenko from that title fight and moved her up to face off against Sijara Eubanks for the 125-pound title at UFC 230.

As you may have guessed, that move didn’t go over too well with the mixed martial arts (MMA) community. But now that there is a bigger act to headline Madison Square Garden, UFC is going back to its original plan, which will now leave Eubanks out in the cold.

It’s a twisted game, this fight business.

Joanna vs Shevchenko will be the co-main event for UFC 231, as a Featherweight title fight between current division champion Max Holloway and top contender, Brian Ortega, will serve as the headlining act.

As far as UFC 230 is concerned, Nate Diaz and Dustin Poirier will continue on as the co-headlining act, while Luke Rockhold and Chris Weidman engage in a middleweight rematch in main card action.
