12 injured in separate road accidents in Makawanpur

At least three persons were killed and 12 others were injured in three separate road accidents in Makawanpur district on Sunday. 12 injured in separate road accidents in Makawanpur.

According to Makawanpur District Police Office, a bus (Ga 1 Kha 7626) heading towards Birgunj from Pokhara knocked a pedestrian killing him on the spot at Manahari Rural Municipality-7 along the East-West Highway. Police said the deceased appeared to be in his mid-60s.
Likewise, a Tata Sumo jeep (Na 1 Ja 4867) heading towards Hetauda from Manahari hit a motorcycle (Ko 34 Pa 5497), killing its rider on the spot at Kharanga in Manahari Rural Municipality in the district. Police identified the deceased as motorcycle rider Rabindra Kumar Podar of Morang.

As many as 11 passengers aboard the vehicle and the pillion rider were injured in the fatal accident, police informed.

Of the injured, nine are receiving treatment at Hetauda-based Chure Hill Hospital while others at a hospital in Bharatpur, Chitwan.

Similarly, a youth was killed after the motorcycle (Na 32 Pa 1849) he was riding on rammed a parked tipper truck (Na 8 Kha 4326) Kantilokpath at Shikharkateri in Makawanpurgadhi Rural Municipality. Police identified the deceased as a resident of Dharampani in Gadhi Rural Municipality, Govinda Bomjan, who appeared to be in his mid-30s.

Bomjan died during the course of treatment at a hospital in Chitwan, police said.

All three vehicles involved in the road accidents have been impounded and the drivers detained for further investigation, the DPO informed.
